Members of Rivers state are happy and grateful to the governor for opening their markets.
The governor of Rivers state Nyesom Wike had on Sunday (5/4/2020) declared a two days opening of markets from 7am to 12pm. This will take effect from 7th to 8th April 2020.
The governor said that it will enable the people of the state to be able to shop for Easter and also have food for themselves during the shutdown.
Wike also said among other markets, Oil mill, Imbiama and Trans Amadi markets will remain closed. This is because, these markets draws more population than any other market in Rivers state.
The governor Nyesom Wike has also instructed that after 12pm on Wednesday, no market is expected to open again until further notice. And security operatives have being instructed to carry out their functions on defaulters.
Nyesom Wike has also released 2 billion naira for food products. A committee have being inaugurated for the buying of food items which will be shared to members of the state.
